1/14 - 1/20

I reduced mileage this week in hopes of improving the Achilles/calf problem. On Thursday, the left one started to hurt too during my morning run and pace was terrible. I was ready to stop running for a week. After Friday’s intensely painful massage, I noticed improvement on both Saturday and Sunday’s run. Next week I will just see how I feel each day and go from there. Hopefully, I can work back up the mileage.

I’ve had a stressful and emotional week with the running issues, taking care of a very sick kitty, work issues, and lack of sleep. I feel that I’ve handled all of this very well though. The workouts have definitely helped.

Notes: I tried the elliptical but it was causing some discomfort. Tried running on the treadmill a few seconds and much less discomfort. Decided to try the recumbent and really burned the gluteous maximus and hamstrings. Not a good cardio workout.

Hope the achilles and calf gets better...sounds like you're on the mend after the weekend!

I'd be especially careful out at Rockbridge with the achilles bothering you. All that uneven ground can do a number on a bad achilles!
